Android Froyo Droid X 2 Captured on Video

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 06:17 AM PDT

The successor to the Motorola Droid X, the Droid X 2 still hasn’t officially been confirmed by Motorola, but that doesn’t mean the Android smartphone doesn’t exist. If fact we have a little proof of Droid X 2 existence for your consideration below.

That proof comes in the form of some video footage of the Motorola Droid X 2 courtesy of Jon Rettinger over at Technobuffalo, which shows off the Android 2.2 Froyo sporting smartphone along with numerous images of the device in the wild.

Apparently it hasn’t yet been decided whether the Motorola Droid X 2 will ship with Froyo or Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but the specs for the device are…a 4.3-inch qHD touch screen, 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video capture, NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core 1.2GHz processor, microHDMI, microUSB, light and proximity sensors, compass, gyroscope, 768MB RAM and accelerometer.

Apparently the Droid X 2 doesn’t support Verizon’s 4G LTE network, but is almost identical to the original Motorola Droid X. So with that said I’ll let you head on down to mash that play button and check out the action…enjoy.

Verizon Inventory Shows White iPhone 4: Its Coming

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 05:46 AM PDT

It’s been quite some time since Apple first promised the iOS faithful the white version of the iPhone 4, since then there have been numerous rumours that the white iPhone 4 would materialise eventually, with Apple lastly saying the much hyped handset would release in spring.

Well it looks like the device that has been as elusive as a unicorn if finally about to make an appearance as according to the guys over at 9to5 Mac they have confirmation of an imminent launch of the white iPhone 4 in both 16GB and 32GB flavours.

Apparently the guys have come across the pale version of the iPhone 4 languishing in the internal inventory system of Verizon, leading the guys to believe that Apple is finally coming good on their promise to deliver the white iPhone 4 in spring.

Although the screenshots of the Verizon inventory system don’t actually say “white iPhone 4″, going by sources and the numbering system, which is MC679, while the black version is one digit lower at MC678 and this is also the same for the Apple iPad 2 in black and white.

Thus judging by those points it does appear that Verizon customers at least should be able to pick up the white iPhone 4 quite soon. So anyone still wanting to snap up the white iPhone 4?

Windows Phone 7 16MP Camera Handset Coming from HTC: Video

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 02:28 AM PDT

Thus far, HTC have only pushed our smartphones with a camera no higher than 8 megapixels, however it would appear that HTC is working on bringing a 16 megapixel camera toting Windows Phone 7 device to the market.

We get a hint of this by way of a short video courtesy of the guys over at Daily Mobile and by way of Pocket Now, which shows off a smartphone that is supposed to spot a 16-megapixel camera in the video, but strangely resembles the Android powered HTC Desire S.

The guys do say that is of course with the exception of the buttons, so they reckon it’s a placeholder for whichever handset the new WP7 device may come out to play as. Along with that 16 megapixel snapper is a dual LED flash, while no other details are mentioned.

So that’s all we know at the moment, HTC is possibly working on this 16MP Windows Phone 7 handset, so to check it out head on down and mash the play button and feel free to let us know your thoughts…enjoy.

Android Gingerbread Update Available For Samsung Galaxy S: Got Yours?

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 02:16 AM PDT

Finally for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone it appears that old Sammy has started rolling out the Android Gingerbread update, albeit not to every Samsung Galaxy S apparently, but for some the wait has finally ended.

According to an article over on Pocket Now, and by way of XDA-developers, some Kies software has Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread with baseband I9000XXJVK with build number GINGERBREAD.XWJVB available to download to the handset.

Apparently reports indicate that the lucky Samsung Galaxy S users gaining Android Gingerbread update are some Nordic countries, Australia and Germany.

Being an owner of the Galaxy S, I checked and thus far I’m still on Android 2.2.1 Froyo so the update isn’t available to us in the UK, but hopefully Samsung will continue to roll out the update and it will become available in other markets in the not too distant future.

So has any of our readers been lucky enough to get updated to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread yet? If so feel free to shout out your joy to our comments area below.
