Dell Streak Teams with Japan’s World Order for Promo Video Posted: 24 Feb 2011 11:15 AM PST Well if you are going to promote a device in Japan why not do something out of the ordinary, which it appears is the move Dell has made with their Dell Streak device, by teaming up with Japan’s music and dance group World Order for some promotional footage. The Dell Streak x World Order Streak man Project promo video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Technobuffalo and by way of the Crnaviofficial YouTube page and last some two and a half minutes. Have to say the video is kind of a weird way to promote a Android smartphone come tablet, but you have to give it to the World Order guys, their syncing is spot on, even though one falls over right at the end. According to the TechnoBuffalo article, World Order ” has been a viral hit on YouTube thanks to their unique dancing style. For those unfamiliar with Japanese culture, the premise is that they are "salarymen", or your average office workers, who are known to work crazy hours and then drink themselves into a stupor at night. This particular video showcases their unusual dancing skills while using the Streak for a variety of tasks.” You just know you’ll be trying out that synced movement sooner or later even if you don't pick up the Dell Streak…enjoy the video |

Samsung Galaxy S II Up For Pre-order in UK on Play Posted: 24 Feb 2011 08:36 AM PST For the Android faithful over here in the United Kingdom who may be of a mind to purchase the next generation Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S II, you just might like to know that you can now pre-order the device. According to an article over on Phandroid and by way of GSMarena, prospective buyers in the UK can pre-order the Android 2.3 Gingerbread device from Play.com who are offering the smartphone SIM free and unlocked for a rather steep £649.99 Apparently Play is saying that the Samsung Galaxy S II is expected to see release on the 31st of March, but apparently that could well be just a placeholder, as they don't really know the actual release date. However apparently Play isn't the only e-tailer you can pre-order the Android device from as GSMarena points out that Pdashop has the device for 609 Euros, which is roughly £511, Getgoods price is 599 Euros, roughly £512, and Digitec are asking 550 Euros, that’s about £470 although they have an availability of late May. So anyone looking to shove in a pre-order for the Samsung Galaxy S II in the hopes that it becomes available before the end of March? |
HTC Thunderbolt Delay: Your Discussions Posted: 24 Feb 2011 08:13 AM PST We reported earlier that the HTC Thunderbolt delay has got longer, we want to do is get to the bottom of the smartphone delay mystery and decided to have a ‘Your Discussions’ area just for you. Could the Best Buy tweet be wrong or could there possibly be Verizon problems (You know like LTE network issues) that they want to iron out? Now the new March 4th delay that we mentioned earlier via a Best Buy in Roseville Tweet could be true, but one commenter on our previous article noticed (we are sorry but we missed it) that the Twitter message by Best Buy says "Thursday March 4" but March 4th is not a Thursday it is a Friday, quite confusing now when you look at it. Could Verizon be building some sort of excitement to make the product even better, you know "The Must Have Smartphone", some of the comments on our other article mention that they have been to Verizon Wireless and sales persons say that it will be released February 28. The Twitter message of the delay that came in could be just that area, another commenter here on phonesreview.co.uk mentions that their local Best Buy in Westwood, CA say they will have the handset on the 28th. Please let us know what you think, is the tweet wrong, do you think Verizon is having problems, or do you think everyone should just relax and wait for the official release date? |
Samsung Galaxy S 4G Now Torn Apart As Well Posted: 24 Feb 2011 08:00 AM PST Well it seems the teardown guys have been hard at work as not only was the Motorola Atrix 4G the subject of a teardown the other day to display the smartphones innards, but also now it appears the Samsung Galaxy S 4G has joined the internal displaying game. According to an article over on Intomobile, those rip apart guys over at iFixit have been at it again and have disassembled the Android 2.2 Froyo Samsung Galaxy S 4G handset. The latest version of the Samsung Vibrant for T-Mobile is virtually a replica of the original Samsung Galaxy S but with the excption of a Sony Ericsson Thor M5730 mobile modem allowing the Samsung Galaxy S 4G to play nice on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network. Apparently other components, which were originally constructed in aluminium, have been replaced by magnesium to make the Samsung Galaxy S 4G stronger and lighter, while the touch screen controller is the one and the same found in the Motorola Atrix 4G. For those that enjoy seeing what is exactly inside a smartphone the iFixit guys have their teardown of the Android smartphone over 3 pages including numerous images and they say the Samsung Galaxy S 4G scores a 6 for reparability with 10 being the easiest. |
Android App (Google My Tracks) Helps Prevent Speeding Ticket Posted: 24 Feb 2011 07:42 AM PST If you are going down a road in your car and the police stop you because they say you was speeding but you was not, then we know this Android app aka Google My Tracks will help you. According to Android Community by way of SkatterTech this particular app saves a driver from a speeding ticket, this story is all about driver Sahas Katta who was ticketed by police for speeding and apparently going 15 miles per hour over the speed limit. The drive was so confident that he was under the speed limit because of the Android app on his Motorola Droid called Google My Tracks could prove so, the app allows drivers to keep tabs on miles traveled and the maximum speed whilst in transit and according to the apps records the maximum speed he was doing was 1mph under the legal limit. The courts decided to drop the ticket and the driver was left happy, so it goes to prove apps are indeed powerful and Google My Tracks is well worth having on your Android mobile phone. You can read more about this app right here; if you already have this application installed please do send in your reviews. |
