Motorola XOOM Pre-Order Back on – February 24th for $799.99 Posted: 20 Feb 2011 05:52 PM PST
We’ve said it time and time again, and we’ve gotten tons of confirmation, but Best Buy has republished their pre-order page for the Motorola XOOM. In fact, you could go out and pre-order one right now if you want to. Don’t expect to be able to walk out of the store with it until February 24th, though, and you probably won’t get it subsidized like we’ve been hearing you may be able to do. It’ll set you back $799.99 + any accessories you may want, but take my word on this one: the tablet flat-out rocks. Check Best Buy’s site out for the list of accessories that’ll be available and their accompanying prices. |
Flight Control for Android is Now Available Posted: 20 Feb 2011 05:45 PM PST
Funny. I’m sitting on an airplane on my way home from Barcelona, and I find that Flight Control for Android has been released. That’s totally not an omen. Anyway, there have been many “flight control” type games on the Android market since Android was conceived, but this iOS hit might be worth the $5 they’re asking if you haven’t tried this genre or if you were a fan of it on iOS. Check it out in the Android market now. |
HTC Inspire 4G Does Not Have HSUPA Capabilities Posted: 20 Feb 2011 05:14 PM PST
So I’ve been playing with the Inspire 4G for the better part of two weeks now, and as AT&T has 4G coverage in my area, I’ve been doing lots of speed tests. LOTS of them. I have been quite pleased with download speed results, but I was a bit irked by the upload speeds I was met with. I didn’t know if it was just a limitation of AT&T’s network – and I didn’t bother to question them about it, sadly enough – but Android Central noticed the same and got in contact with them: the phone does not have the HSUPA radios required to take advantage of faster upload speeds over HSPA+. Why this was excluded AT&T didn’t say – you’d better bet your butt we’re going to try and find out – but it’s unfortunate as upload speed in many cases is just as important as download speed. Online gaming practically lives or dies on how fast you’re able to upload packets of data. Odd indeed, but we’ll be working on trying to get to the bottom of things. In the meantime, why don’t you express your thoughts in the Inspire 4G section at AndroidForums.com and look out for our review of the device coming up sometime in the near future. |
