Mini iPhone To Be Half Size Possible Release Summer Posted: 13 Feb 2011 02:07 PM PST The other day word hit the fan of a cheaper mini iPhone may appear in the not too distant future to combat the rise of Android, you can refresh your memory on that mater by hitting up (here), well apparently the rumour just might be true. According to an article over on Engadget, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the usual “people familiar with the matter”, whomever they may be, have said that the mini iPhone would be approximately half the size of the current iPhone 4. Apparently one of the unnamed has seen a prototype of the mini iPhone, which carries the codename of N97, and would apparently be offered to carriers for approximately half price, which would enable carriers to subsidise the device and thus place the iPhone in the same mass market price range as rival smartphones. Furthermore according to the “people familiar with the matter,” MobileMe is going to receive a major revamp and apparently Apple is thinking about making the Mobileme service free. Apparently the new line of iPhone handsets along with the overhauled MobileMe is scheduled for release this summer, but that could change. Apparently Apple has taken the normal response and declined to comment. So there you go, we could be seeing a mini iPhone come summer, but could this mini iPhone be released instead of the iPhone 5? Does anyone really want or need a smaller iPhone? Feel free to voice your opinions on the mini iPhone to our comments area below. |
iPhone Hacker Geohot Raps It Out At Sony: Video Posted: 13 Feb 2011 06:58 AM PST As you are probably aware, iPhone jailbreak master Geoge Hotz, also known as Geohot is in a spot of bother with Sony over his Geohot’s jailbreak for the PS3 so much so that Sony is taking Geohot along with the failOverflow team to court. I haven’t looked into all the technical and law wrangling of the dispute as it is for the PS3 but as Geohot is known for his jailbreaking of the iPhone I thought I’d pass this along and apparently you can sift through the information on the lawsuit if you wish by hitting up Here. However, Geohot isn’t bowing down to Sony and has now apparently come up with a rap, which has been posted to YouTube and comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Daily Mobile and you can view Geohot rapping below. Here are the lyrics to Geohot’s rap…(warning contains bad language) Yo it’s geohot Let’s take this out of the courtroom and into the streets I shed a tear everytime I think of Lik Sang Exhibit this in the courtroom Furthermore if you would like to download the MP3 you can do so by heading Here. So head on down and hit that play button, and if you like as Geohot says, want to “take this out of the courtroom and into the streets” download that MP3…enjoy. |
Verizon iPhone Conference Calls Problem Found: Video Posted: 13 Feb 2011 06:27 AM PST With all the fanfare and commotion over the arrival of the Verizon iPhone, one would expect the CDMA iPhone to come out to play without any real bugs, especially as the Big Red tout their network as better than rival iPhone carrier AT&T. However, apparently the Verizon iPhone is not without its faults, as according to an article over on Unwired View by Brad Molen, the guys over at 9to5 Mac have discovered an issue with the Verizon iPhone is its ability to handle simultaneous multiple calls. Apparently the problem is that the Verizon iPhone can’t connect in excess of three handsets into a conference call, so if you have 4 people trying to get in on a conference call one is out of luck, and also the device can’t swap calls as well. Apparently though this problem isn't widely reported yet so it could be just down to a software glitch. We have some video evidence of the problem courtesy of Mark Gurman of 9to5 Mac that demos the problem, so hit that play button and check it out. If you manage to get hold of a Verizon iPhone and experience this issue feel free to shout out about it in our comments area below. |
No iPhone 5 But Possibly an iPhone 4X Version Posted: 13 Feb 2011 04:30 AM PST Thinking Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 later in the year? Well apparently some think otherwise and that Apple won't push out an entire new iPhone 5 but rather a refined version of the iPhone 4, which has been dubbed the iPhone 4X. The interesting article over on Info World, Galen Gruman says, “don't be surprised that there’s no iPhone 5 shown in June” as Apple has rationed their major redesigns to every 2 or 3 years whilst pushing out smaller yearly updates. Thus apparently we can expect a “refined model of the iPhone 4” an iPhone 4X, but not the major redesign expected with the iPhone 5. Based on Apple’s “typical practice” here’s what Gruman says we can expect…the iPhone 4X will be faster and thinner, the home button might become virtual, possibly a 64GB model, world capable CDMA and GSM, possibly an SD slot, microUSB port, and enhanced haptic response, and Gruman suspects the majority of these will come via iOS. So there you have it and although it’s only one guy’s opinion, he does throw some good points out there. Will Apple unveil the iPhone 5 in June, I don't know, perhaps it will be just a refined version of the Verizon iPhone, maybe Apple won’t unveils a new iPhone at all. Will it be called the iPhone 4X? Doubtful, as I think it sounds too similar to a certain Australian lager. So what do our readers think the next iPhone may be named? Do you have your own thoughts and desires on what a new iPhone should deliver this time round? Feel free to voice your opinions in our comments area below. |
Motorola Atrix 4G Now Available for Pre-order from AT&T Posted: 13 Feb 2011 04:20 AM PST If you are in the market to nap the Android 2.2 Froyo packing Motorola Atrix 4G smartphone from AT&T you just might like to know that you can now place your order the device as AT&T have now gone live with the pre-order process. According to an article over on Engadget by Sean Hollister, the official release date for the Motorola Atrix 4G is the 6th of March but you can now slap your cash down in order to make sure you gain the handset. Pre-ordering the Motorola Atrix 4G online gets you the device for $1.99 when signing on for a two-year term and a new activation with AT&T, although it you also want the laptop dock it will set you back an extra hefty $2.99.99 after a mail in rebate. Apparently you’ll also require AT&T’s DataPro 4GB for HSPA+ smartphone tethering to use the device on the move which will set you back a further $45 a month, so all in all the Motorola Atrix 4G seems to be turning out to be quite a substantial monetary package. Are any of our readers hoping to purchase the Motorola Atrix 4G along with its laptop dock and DataPro smartphone tethering option? |
