iPad 2 Light Peak Connector Surely Better Than 30-Pin

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 03:11 PM PST

The iPad 2 is coming that is for sure seeing as the current model is being sold really cheap with many online store being out of stock, the latest news about the next-gen iPad reports that it could feature a "Light Peak Connector".

Apple has partnered with Intel on Light Peak that would give better speeds and flexibility, Apple may possibly implement this new Light Peak-based high speed connection to the Apple iPad 2, obviously these are all rumours so please take it lightly until we have solid information for you.

There have been a few iPad cases with a mystery port (See Pic Below via Orange-Byte), it could be possible that the new iPad 2 could get a USB port that has been rumoured a few times, at the moment it is hard to say so we will have to wait for official news.

We are just waiting on your Apple for the announcement and full official specifications and features on the new iPad 2, all we have is speculations at the moment and they get us on the edge of the seat only to be disappointed when it never happens (But you love that).

BGR has reported that the iPad is showing up online as out of stock, we know that they were going on the cheap, which tells us they want more room in stores for the new iPad 2.

Windows Phone 7 Update is Live: Oh Dear Me

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 01:42 PM PST

Yes you can sit right on the edge of your chair because the new Windows Phone 7 update is live, if you are on the edge of your seat we might suggest you shimmy on back into an upright position because it is nothing special, oh dear me.

Microsoft give their due has finally released its new update to Windows Phone 7 but it is only a pre-update so to speak design specifically to prepare your WP7 handset for the real imminent software update.

This new update that has gone live does NOT and we say does NOT feature third-party multitasking, cut and paste functionality, if you are waiting for these in the update you will have to wait until March. Before you get annoyed it has been said by sources below that this update is still very important because it helps the full release update next month easier and better.

This new update is being rolled out bit-by-bit (Gradually), you will get an alert on your device when available, it is not an OTA update; USB tethering to the Zune software (for Windows users) or Windows Phone 7 Connector (for Mac OS X users) will be needed according to Arstechnica.

Please check out the Microsoft published history page to allow updates to be tracked, if you have anything to say about this new update please do scroll down a little and post all your comments. Thanks

Angry Birds Playable Game You Can Eat: Video

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 08:48 AM PST

Well you would certainly have to be one dedicated Angry Birds fanatic to want your birthday cake to resemble the highly popular multi-platform mobile game Angry Birds, but as the video we have for your viewing pleasure below confirms there are those about.

The Angry Birds Playable Birthday Cake video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Gizmodo and by way of Electric Pig and delivers three and a half minutes of seeing the Angry Birds birthday cake being constructed and then watching Ben launch the birds at the green pigs.

I have to say whoever made the Angry Birds cake is a culinary artist, as those green pigs and ice Angry Birds sure do look just like those in the popular Angry Birds game, and the great advantage is you get to eat what’s left as well, and not a smartphone in sight.

Apparently the Angry Birds birthday cake took ten hours to make, while it took 6-year old Ben just two minutes to destroy, but no doubt they all had a good time clearing up.

Hmm, I wonder what green pig tastes like? Looks like Ben had a great time too. So head on down, mash that play button and check out this rather unusual take on the Angry Birds game phenomenon…enjoy.

HTC Thunderbolt Price with Best Buy Confusion

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 08:14 AM PST

The upcoming HTC Thunderbolt price is causing a little confusion at the moment and in that we mean with Best Buy, we have seen two different prices for the same smartphone with the same online store.

If you look at screenshot images below one of them says that the HTC Thunderbolt is $299.99 and the other one says $249.99, the first image below is a screenshot we did and the second one is via BGR.

Now we know that Verizon Wireless is going to sell it for the higher price of $299.99 so how true is it that Best Buy separate flyer dated Sunday, February 20th shows it will be selling on its online store for only $249.99. Time for a little digging as they say and that is what we will do.

The HTC Thunderbolt with its 4.3-inch touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera and 4G LTE connectivity plus its front-facing camera will be very popular indeed.

We gave you some news on Feb. 19 mentioning about the HTC Thunderbolt delay and that got a few responses, there have been many dates for its release like Feb 24 then there was another date of Feb. 28, one of our commenter's said:

First Screenshot

I’m a third party agent, and I recently got confirmation that we’re getting the thunderbolt on the 23rd for a 24th launch, looks promising. Keep in mind verizon hasn’t actually given any of these speculative dates, we simply chose to base our hate and impatience on “sources close to the matter”

Apple iPad 2 Anticipation, T-Mobile and Orange Cut iPad Prices

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 07:30 AM PST

If carriers chopping down the price of the Apple iPad is any indication to go by that Apple will soon release the Apple iPad 2 into the public arena a couple of carriers have just done so as word has it that T-Mobile and Orange have both slashed the asking price of the original Apple iPad.

According to an article over on 3G apparently Techradar is rporting that the two carriers have now cut the price of the Apple iPad in anticipation of the Apple iPad 2 releasing in the next few weeks.

According to the article it is common practice for product pricing to fall to clear stock to make way for a new device and word has it the Apple iPad has now gained a substantial price drop with both carriers now offering the iOS device for £99 on a 2-year contract.

However apparently T-Mobile is only making the discounted price offer for existing customers, while Orange extend the price drop to new customers, but as the original price was £199 on contract it’s still a saving of a hundred quid.

So does this move by Orange and T-Mobile signify that the next generation Apple iPad will hit UK shores fairly soon?

Accessories for iPad: ZAGGmate Case with Keyboard

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 07:28 AM PST

It is always good to see patent pending accessories for iPad and the cool design of the ZAGGmate Case with Keyboard is very good indeed and a somewhat accessory that will be popular indeed.

Combining an iPad Keyboard Dock and the Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard within a case is a stunning idea and will make a perfect companion for your much-loved Apple iPad. This is iPad accessories at its best and we think you will like this one.

The $99.99 ZAGGmate with keyboard has its pros and cons according to MacWorld (Read review Here) and on the positive side of things it is sleek with its compact design and has a solid protection for front and sides of the iPad, it allows full complement of keys and the iPad can be positioned in portrait or landscape orientation.

The downsides they found were it does not protect the back of the iPad and the keys are a little cramped on the keyboard, apparently the sharp edges can make it a little uncomfortable when typing.

Nether the less we say this is a great little product and so much so we have asked for one to be sent to us for review and only then can we judge, but overall we like the look of the design.

For more information please visit Zagg.com where you purchase the ZAGGmate Case with Keyboard for the iPad, you can also buy this product via Best Buy and Amazon for the same price of $99.99. Please do watch the video below to give you more of an insight.

Motorola Xoom Wont Support Flash on Release

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 05:17 AM PST

If you were expecting your Motorola Xoom tablet to play nice with Adobe Flash once the device sees release on the 24th of this month, you will find yourself somewhat disappointed as apparently the Motorola Xoom wont support Flash on launch.

According to an article over on Gadget Venue and by way of the guys over at Engadget, the Big Red has gone live on their website touting the Motorola Xoom for the 24th of Feb, but the detail is in the small print as usual.

Apparently according to the image on Verizon’s website, the Android 3.0 Honeycomb sporting Motorola Xoom states in small print at the bottom…”Adobe Flash expected Spring 2011.”

Which of course means there will be no Adobe Flash support on the Motorola Xoom when it releases in a few days time. Just when the Motorola Xoom will see an Adobe Flash update is basically anyone’s guess as “Spring” could just about mean months.

I’m not too sure why the Motorola Xoom will launch without Flash and the Big Red hasn’t put any explanation as to why on the advert, but it seems to me that a manufacturer should have all the necessary before they release a device ad that way avoid having to update at some unknown point in the future.

London Underground Mobile Phone Coverage Free from Huawei

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 04:52 AM PST

If you live in the UK and use the London underground you’ve probably noticed that mobile phone reception is somewhat hit and miss, but London wants the underground covered for mobile phone reception by the Summer Olympics in 2012.

Thus according to an article over on Engadget and by way of Yahoo News, China’s Huawei is apparently offering to equip the London underground with mobile phone coverage for free, picking up the estimated £50 million bill or $80 million, to do so.

Apparently Huawei would regain their cash layout over time via maintenance of the system while word has it O2 and Vodafone have agreed to fork the bill to get the system of mobile transmitters installed in the ceilings of the tunnels.

A spokesperson for Transport for London has said… “Transport for London and the Mayor of London are currently in discussion with mobile phone operators and other suppliers about the potential provision of mobile phone services on the deep Tube network.”

However, Conservative lawmaker Patrick Mercer has said “It has been proven that a proportion of the cyberattacks on this country come from China. I wonder when the eyes of the world are upon us whether there is sense in using a Chinese firm to install a sensitive mobile network.”

Having said that, someone needs to get mobile coverage on the underground, and if Hauwei is prepared to foot the bill then why not let them?

Apple iPad 2 Gains Review On Video or Maybe Not

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 04:22 AM PST

Yes folks this is probably the first video review of the Apple iPad 2 tablet that all the iOS faithful have been patiently waiting for. Okay before we go any further I confess it’s probably not what you are expecting.

The Apple iPad 2 Review video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Redmond Pie and by way of The Readers Eye, and had been made by YouTube user Exkild, but it’s probably the closest thing to an Apple iPad 2 review anyone is going to get before Apple finally unleashes the device onto the public arena.

The video is of course a humorous take on reviewing the iPad 2 with the device sporting a humongous 27-inch screen and was only made for entertainment value and is obviously not the Apple iPad 2 in any shape or form.

Have to say though perhaps a nice big 27-inch screen Apple iPad could be the next big thing, I mean especially for those with impaired vision, and well let’s be honest the video is good for a laugh on a cold and wet Monday morning…enjoy.
