On the Importance of the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY [via a Casual Conversation with an Inside Source] Posted: 12 Mar 2011 11:10 AM PST Let’s have a chat on a chat we’ve just had in the past week with a source we stake our name on, one extremely familiar with the subject matter at hand. What we spoke about specifically was the history and the future of Sony Ericsson inside and beside the Xperia PLAY, aka the Playstation phone. One of the points we spoke on was the fact that it’ll be launching with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, an operating system that the rest of the electronics world (with a few exceptions) are still scrambling to attach to their own hardware. Why does Sony Ericsson, a group that really hasn’t had a top space in the minds of any Android fan basically ever, have access to this newest of Google’s mobile operating systems?
The reason the Playstation phone will be launching with Android 2.3 Gingerbread is that it was at one point Google’s hero phone. Our source let us know that the Xperia PLAY was currently being tested for reliability on both Verizon and AT&T’s networks and that Sony Ericsson was shooting for a Q1 2011 launch. This phone, now “out of grace” with Google, was knocked out of place by Samsung which swooped in and chomped down with the Nexus S. Apparently Sony has been testing the Xperia PLAY since November of 2010 for reliability on at least a couple of networks and they’re saying now that a first quarter release is a realistic situation. Beyond the fact that we trust our source implicitly, we figure future readers might like to take a peek back at this post and hope for a tiny tidbit of proof, just the tiniest tidbit: the AT&T SIM card is placed in the device in the upper-right-hand corner in portrait mode (under the battery cover, obviously.) Will the Xperia PLAY live up to the expectations Google had for it before it was bumped by the Nexus S? That’d be just fine with us! ) |
Angry Birds St Patrick’s Day “Go Green, Get Lucky” [FULL SPOILER] Posted: 12 Mar 2011 08:53 AM PST BEHOLD all the levels of this cool green new expansion to the Angry Birds: Seasons game in all its lucky glory. What you’re going to find is a whole fifteen levels of leprechaun ham fun PLUS a bonus set of Facebook levels and a pot-o-gold level for having found all the super secret golden eggs. No rainbows, so we’re a little sad about that, but plenty of gold pieces and clover. AGAIN, warning: this is a full spoiler of the expansion, so if you want to discover the levels on your own, turn back, and do not enter!
What you’re going to find in this game is not just the addition of points for gold stacks and pots, not just new hats for the pigs, but both clover that explodes into green goodness and brand new sets of wood hammered together with nails, new physics, and lots and lots of opportunities for bonus points. In essence, this means you’re going to have a ROUGH time getting three stars in every level, so we wish you good luck – then again, there’s lots of that to be had here. The cutest part about these new levels has to be the hats – not only do the pigs get leprechaun hats, they get big fat clovers sticking out of them as well as full-blown clover hats for great justice. Find your way around these levels with great joy, and let us know if you have any trouble anywhere. Where we completed the Valentine’s Day levels in 30 minutes, this set of levels took us more than an hour! ) |
Flash Player 10.2 Leaked for XOOM [Works - Video Proof/File] Posted: 11 Mar 2011 10:02 PM PST We’ve got it all right here, right where you want to peek at it. Links and videos and all that good jazz. You want to watch ESPN on your Motorola XOOM, and the preparedness update today just wasn’t enough for you? Or perhaps you never received that update OTA, and you still just cant let go of the fact that you don’t have Adobe Flash Player 10.2 yet? Well heck, man, here it is. Not only is it here, we’ve got video proof of the thing in action, so fear naught!
In the video below you’ll see us access an array of Flash-centric websites after we’ve installed the APK file you’re about to grab for your own. This file was submitted to us by a friendly user by the name of “Teegz90,” and we’ve also traced it back to a source over on MyDroidWorld where wnrussell appears to have gotten this file from a completely random ghost. Ghost in a shell, perhaps. No matter what angel or devil brought this update to us a few days early, we’re grateful, and we’re completely enjoying watching our Facebook videos and playing Flash video games and such. Next we need to get that keyboard hack working so we can play Boxhead Zombie Wars. Wooie! OH and if you want the APK, head over to [this Multiupload] ) |
Angry Birds Seasons gets an Irish update Posted: 11 Mar 2011 01:40 PM PST Mobile game developer ROVIO has released an update to it’s epically successful Angry Birds: Seasons game. The update, which now includes an Irish vibe to it, comes with 15 new levels of clovers and 2 new golden eggs and a St. Paddy’s Day Surprise and lucky pots ‘o gold everywhere. Users can even send Happy St. Patrick’s Day cards to their friends from within the game!
Angry Birds Seasons is the follow-up to the game that took over the world and became the most popular mobile game in history. Starting with a Halloween version, Angry Birds Seasons was updated with Christmas Holiday levels (laid out in a cool advent calendar like grid), a pink and rosey, Valentine’s motif, and now it’s going green for Saint Patty’s Day. The update is available at the Android Market, but be prepared, this game is a serious challenge. We’ll have a run through including full spoilers of all levels coming later today, but one of our people is playing it and he gives it a snap “GG.” Now make no mistake, while this is a game, you’ve got your work cut out for you! But hey, it’s Angry Birds, you know it’s worth it! ) |
