The LG Optimus Pad heads to Japan on March 31st Posted: 28 Mar 2011 06:52 AM PDT T-Mobile was the first to announce that they would carry the LG Optimus Pad (as the T-Mobile G-Slate) at CES in early January, but that's not stopping Japan's NTT DOCOMO from being the first to bring the Honeycomb tablet to market on March 31st. The Android tablet will be the second Honeycomb device to officially hit the market. Most of the specs on the Optimus Pad line up with those of the Motorola XOOM, though it does feature a slightly smaller 8.9-inch display and dual cameras on the back capable of capturing images and video in 3D. The T-Mobile G-Slate is expected to launch on in the U.S. on April 20th for $529 after a $100 mail-in-rebate and a two year mobile broadband contract. Hopefully T-Mobile USA will be making an official announcement about the G-Slate's availability in the next few weeks. We certainly acknowledge that the G-Slate is a great Android tablet option, but now that the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi is available and the Wi-Fi HTC Scribe is heading to BestBuy in a few short weeks, do any of you really want a tablet that's tied down with a two year data contract? |
