Super AMOLED Not Coming to Samsung Tablets Yet Posted: 02 May 2011 05:00 AM PDT If you are a fan of Samsung devices and have been hoping that Samsung would deliver their Super AMOLED display to their tablet devices it appears that you have a long wait ahead before seeing a Sammy tablet sporting a Super AMOLED. According to an article over on Slash Gear by way of Korean site Ddaily, Samsung have shelved plans to bring Super AMOLED displays to their tablets, with a Samsung executive being quoted as saying…" the company now has no plans to use its Super AMOLED or Super AMOLED Plus in any imminent slates, likely due to delays at the 5.5-Gen production line." Apparently a new Samsung plant was expected to be up and running this year to produce 7-inch and up AMOLED panels for Samsung tablets, but component delay due to the Japan disaster have caused a delay. So there you have it, for the foreseeable future anyway, you won't be seeing a Super AMOLED tablet coming out of the Samsung camp. |
iPhone 5 May Come In Two Versions, Standard and Pro Posted: 02 May 2011 02:51 AM PDT In the past we've heard numerous rumour concerning the fifth generation iOS smartphone, but I haven't heard this latest one before, the rumour that not one but two versions of the iPhone 5 may release this fall, standard and pro versions. This latest iPhone 5 rumour comes via the iPhone Download Blog, who says that an Apple parts supplier employee has said that "there is reason to believe that the iPhone 5 will actually be two devices: a 'standard' and 'pro' model." Apparently the source couldn't come up with any other details but he does believe that Apple is working on 2 versions of the iPhone 5, what he calls a "normal and a pro version" and that Apple is ordering "components of similar function" but some are the "very best" that can be got now, while others are standard versions. The guys say they believe their source is reliable on this matter, and also say that according to an Apple insider the iPhone 5 will release after the "Back to School" season in the fall. So what do our reader's think on this latest iPhone 5 rumours, do you think Apple will release 2 models of the next iPhone? |
LG Revolution Picture: May 25th Possible Release Date Posted: 02 May 2011 02:29 AM PDT For those who may be waiting for the release of the LG Revolution smartphone on Verizon, we have the latest rumour of a release date for the Android handset currently doing the rounds on the web, although a fairly thin assumption of a possible release date. According to the guys over at Ubergizmo, the guys at Pocket Now have managed to get hold of a press shot of the LG Revolution, a smartphone that will be Verizon's 3rd 4G enabled handset after the HTC Thunderbolt and Samsung Droid Charge. As for the rumoured release date, well that's based on the LG Revolution press shot showing a date of the 25th of May and it is presumed that this could be the release date or the official announcement date for the Android device, although this hasn't been confirmed. The LG Revolution features a WCGA resolution along with a single-core processor, but word has it the LG Revolution may be the first Android smartphone to come out to play with Netflix support. Well there it is, I did say it was thin, but who knows maybe we will see the Revolution release on the 25th, anyone excited about picking up the LG Revolution once it hits? |
iPhone Jailbreaking, Saurik Says Why You Should: Video Posted: 02 May 2011 02:03 AM PDT There are many iOS faithful out there that jailbreak their iPhone, but there are of course many that shy away from jailbreaking the iOS device. So what we have for your consideration today is an interview with Jay Freeman, also known as Saurik who runs Cydia. In the video interview, which comes our way courtesy of iSpazio, Saurik lets people know why they should jailbreak their iPhone. For some reason YouTube removed the original footage but the guys at iSpazio reported it. Saurik says jailbreaking your iPhone is having the freedom to do things that are outside the scope of an app so you have to go above and beyond what you can normally do. Many people are concerned that if you jailbreak your iPhone you wont be able to use the App Store any more, however that is not the case and everything you could do before you can still do but with the added ability to use Cydia apps. So if you are still sitting on the fence over jailbreaking your iOS smartphone, head on down, hit that lay button and check out what Saurik has to say on jailbreaking the iPhone…enjoy. |
