Apple iOS 5 & MobileMe April Event, Not Official Posted: 08 Mar 2011 02:50 PM PST Apple is doing very well so far this year especially with the latest iPad 2 Event announcement, the new tablet looks very nice indeed. Well today the reports have come in about the Apple iOS 5 Event in April. Both Mac Rumors and 9to5Mac reports via German site Macerkopf.de that Apple is planning a whole new event in April and this time it will cover features of the new iOS 5 and revamped MobileMe. If all is true the event could be held on April 14th or 15th, have to wait and see. This news is NOT official so please do not shoot the messenger, Last year iOS 4 event happened April 8th, now we do not know much about Macerkopf.de so we will have to wait for the official news via Apple. Some of the features some of you may like to be added to iOS 5 would be: Better Game Center, Better Syncing, Network Printing, Cloud Features, Adobe Flash (Yeah Right), Better Notifications, there are many more features we would like. What new features would you like to see in Apple iOS 5, please do post all your comments in the area provided below. Thanks (Image above via Todays iPhone |
HTC Thunderbolt: Verizon Rubs Salt In Wound With Tweet Posted: 08 Mar 2011 11:44 AM PST One would presume that Verizon Wireless cares about their customers wanting to know when the HTC Thunderbolt is going to finally see release, as you probably know the HTC Thunderbolt is a 4G enabled smartphone and has seen endless delays to being released. Well what does Verizon do, do they give confirmation that the Android 2.2 Froyo HTC Thunderbolt will be released on such and such a date? No of course not, what Verizon Wireless does is kind of rub some salt into the wound via their Twitter account. Here’s what Verizon Wireless tweeted a couple of hours ago…“Zillions of rumors every day. When we DO launch our 4G phones, they’ll work great on our LTE network.” To which one user replied…”@VerizonWireless Thanks alot for the salt in the wound. How about telling us the date of the #HTCThunderboltlaunch!” Thus it would appear that Verizon is confirming that their 4G phones will “work great” on their LTE network, when they DO launch. Of course when that may be, Verizon isn't telling and still keeps those who want the HTC Thunderbolt hanging on a thread, for how much longer is anyone’s guess. So come on Verizon, how about announcing that ever-delayed release date for the HTC Thunderbolt? |
Motorola Xoom Accessories: Folding Portfolio Case Posted: 08 Mar 2011 10:53 AM PST For all those that love the new Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) 10.1-inch widescreen HD display Motorola Xoom Tablet should consider protecting it with the folding portfolio case. The folding portfolio case for the Motorola Xoom comes in black and looks fantastic, it will protect from light bumps and scratches and keeps it virtually dust free. It features a play-through design, which basically means you can connect the tablet into a Motorola Standard or Speaker HD dock (not included) without removing the case. It is very nice looking, reasonably priced and allows for easy comfortable viewing, reading and typing. If you visit both Motorola Online Store and Best Buy they have it priced at $39.99, but after a little digging we found that The Accessory King online store says that Expected Release Date is 05/20/2011 and they have the Motorola Portfolio Case for Motorola Xoom priced at only $37.73, which is cheaper than Motorola and Best Buy online stores. Please visit Motorola for more information and where to buy the Xoom Tablet, all the details you need with a simple click of your left button. Check out a few images of the Portfolio Case below:

India iPad Price Cuts, Maybe iPad 2 Coming Posted: 08 Mar 2011 10:10 AM PST Could the Apple iPad 2 be on it’s way to India very soon? Well it is quite possible, apparently there has been a recent announcement by Apple that they are cutting prices on their original iPad models in India. The new prices in India for the Apple iPad with WiFi are said to be Rs.24,500 for the 16GB model, Rs 29,500 for the 32GB model and Rs. 41,900 for the 64GB model. In India the new price cuts equate to approximately Rs. 3,400 off the previous price. Now according to the guys at techtree.com when the iPad 2 was launched on 2 March 2011, the price of the original iPad models were slashed in the United States by $100 (Rs. 4,500), the price in America now starts at $399 (Rs. 18,000 approx.). Considering that the iPad has only recently been introduced to India (release date 28 January 2011) it seems quite strange that Apple are already cutting their prices and thus, leading to speculation surrounding the possible introduction of the iPad 2 to India’s shores. If you have any comments or views on this subject please leave them below in the comments box. |
HTC Thunderbolt More Release Problems: 3G and 4G Data Switch Posted: 08 Mar 2011 09:45 AM PST We all have to get a grip and start to wonder when the real HTC Thunderbolt release date will become reality, the confusing gets confused and the confusion carries on. Earlier on today we reported about the HTC Thunderbolt and even more release date confusion, this time a new date of March 17 has been penned online, dates of Feb 24, 28, then March 10, March 16th and now the 17th. Oh well shall we throw in the 18, 25, or even more fitting April 1 (We are only joking, come on see the funny side), but all these dates are starting to get boring and confusing. We took a little visit to Android Community and they have some great information, of course anything we read now other than official confirmation from Verizon or HTC we will take light heartedly, apparently the source above got some inside info via Verizon suggesting that the Thunderbolt has been delayed because there has been problems with the switch between 3G and 4G LTE. So what is the real reason why the HTC Thunderbolt has not had a release date? Could it really be down to Verizon not happy with the data switching between the two connection speeds, or could it be because of poor battery life, or could it be simply down to the fact March the 10th will see the new iPad 2 hit the shelves. Sorry if we sound like we are going on but we did say that we would bring you as much information as we possibly can covering the HTC Thunderbolt, we just want to keep you in the loop. Please do not get annoyed with us as we are only reporting what we find or hear. |

Sprint, T-Mobile USA Merger Under Consideration Posted: 08 Mar 2011 08:01 AM PST Rumbling on the net waves currently have it that Deutche Telekom the owners of T-Mobile USA is considering selling T-Mobile USA to Sprint and would require a large percentage of the merged company if the deal was to go ahead. According to an article over on Phone Dog by way of Phone Scoop, Bloomberg is reporting that according to “people with knowledge of the matter” Deutche Telekom has been in “ongoing talks” with Sprint, but apparently the sources aren’t too sure whether a deal will be struck or not. Apparently Deutche Telekom is considering all options and is open to selling part or all of T-Mobile USA. Apparently the companies haven’t been able to reach an agreement on the value of T-Mobile USA. Timotheus Hoettges, the CFO of Deutche Telekom has said via email…” In general, all options are open in the U.S. — the sale of the whole business or of parts." No doubt Sprint merging with T-Mobile would be quite a big deal in the US as both carriers have been somewhat struggling of late and if a deal could be finalise it could be beneficial to both sides. But what do our readers think, would a merger between T-Mobile and Sprint be good for customers? |
Apple iPad 2 Wannabees Queuing Already Posted: 08 Mar 2011 06:43 AM PST Now I know that most are eager to get their hands on the latest iOS tablet out of the Apple factory, but with still a few days to go before the Apple iPad 2 is released upon the iOS faithful it does seem somewhat premature to be lining up for the device. However apparently not too early for everyone as according to an article over on TiPb, one guys has already set up his tent and is camping out outside an Apple Store in Texas. Apparently the TiPb guys heard of this early camper from Maccast, the eager Apple iPad 2 wannabee is one Justin Wagoner, who also happened to be the first in line at a Texas store when Apple released the iPhone 4. Apparently the Apple Store where Wagoner is camped out is a “temporary setup” for the Knox Street location in Texas as the Knox Street location is being renovated. With that said, would you hit the Apple iPad 2 lines so early, or do you plan on waiting just a little longer before you set up your own camp? Personally I would simply wait until the rush is over, but then I’m not an iOS device owner. |

Posted: 08 Mar 2011 05:39 AM PST For all the iOS faithful out there who have been eagerly chaffing at the bit to get the latest software from the Apple camp top play nice on their iOS device, the word is that if you hit up iTunes today you can grab iOS 4.3. According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report, a source of the unnamed variety of course, has let them know that iOS 4.3 will be released for download as of today at 10AM PT. The guys also mention word on the iOS 4.3 personal hotspot feature that has been rumoured to only enable three wireless connections rather than the touted five, and that is apparently how many wireless connections is left up to the discretion of the carrier. Apparently five wireless connections are supported but it’s three by default. So keep your eyes open at 10AM PT time, make sure you hit up iTunes and download iOS 4.3 to your iPhone and such, of course you may experience problems as no doubt iTunes will be overloaded with requests, but be patient. |
iPhone 5 Countdown: New 64GB & Old School Design Posted: 08 Mar 2011 05:18 AM PST The iPhone 5 should release in June if we look at all other iPhone release dates, each year iphone has released the same time. Time will tell and it is now the iPhone 5 countdown begins. There are many rumours of late as to what features and design will be added to the new Apple handset, but we have to chat about it getting a release date first and Beat Week like ourselves say that there is no guarantee that the iPhone 5 will arrive in June, in fact we reported not so long ago it could be possible that it may not make it to the shelves until 2012 (Speculation of course). Personally, we cannot see Apple delaying the new iPhone this year, why would they? Each year they have delivered so why not deliver this year. What about the design and features then? Yet again many speculations as to what the new iPhone will look like and if the features can better the iPhone 4, an earlier report from our very own James via sources say that the iPhone 5 could have a new antenna logo and the casing could possibly be made from shiny aluminum. The new design mock up shown below (Image via macotakara) seems to be going back a few steps in looks rather than forward, glad these are only mock ups and not the final release (Fingers crossed that this is NOT the final release design). Apparently and according to an article via 9to5Mac Apple is working hard on a new 64GB iPhone 4, on a personal note they should scrap the idea of a 64GB iPhone 4 and just release a new iPhone 5 64GB, do you agree? Whatever happens being it the release date, features, specifications or design it is now that the iPhone 5 countdown for release begins. |

The blurb on the video’s YouTube page says, ” we finally have an Android powered smartphone that’s worthy enough to challenge the iPhone 4 as the premier device on AT&T’s lineup.” But the big question is do you agree?
