CyanogenMod 7 Carbonite Theme to make your phone daring and cool

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 11:29 AM PDT

So, you’ve just flashed the latest CM7 Nightly, or the latest CyanogenMod 7 RC2 build and now you want to customize your device and make it unique to you. I’m with you, I do it all the time. For those like me that love to tinker, hack, or modify anything and everything about our awesome Android phones. I bring you a very well made theme for CM7 by another amazing developer at XDA.

Over at XDA a developer named Trock79 has released a theme for CM7. This isn’t just a few changes though. He has taken his time and it is very thorough. From status bar, to lockscreen, backgrounds, and the dialer. All have been customized and it looks great. This theme is a pretty big change, most of the phone menu’s and everything have been changed and look different so it is a huge transition for a user. You will most likely either love it, or hate it. Trock79 has mentioned that not all work with certain nightly’s so he has posted the install for regular CM7, for nightly CM7′s, as well as the latest RC2. He also mentions his theme will work in the CM7 T-Mo theme chooser. So that is the easiest way to install this.

As always, use caution when making changes to your device. Always remember to do a nandroid backup before modding or changing anything, especially when flashing morphs or themes. Do this at your own risk, and enjoy!

Instructions:
-Download zip
-Unzip in file explorer
-Install apk
-Or use the Theme Chooser

Download Files:
Carbonite apk
Carbonite Nightly #23 apk
and latest Carbonite CM7 RC2 apk

Atrix 4G first update falls short, no voice quality improvement

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 11:21 AM PDT

Motorola is poised to offer it’s first OTA update to the Motorola Atrix. Unfortunately, it won’t address the main gripes Atrix users are grumbling about … namely voice quality and the lack of HSUPA support. Motorola says they’re still working on this fixes for a future OTA update, and that omitting them in this OTA was a “tough decision.” There’s no real word on what will be in the change log just yet, but it’s release, in beta form, will come Friday at 12pm EST, and users can sign up to test it here.

The issue of voice quality in calls has dogged the Atrix from the get go. Users have been complaining of poor voice quality on phone calls, and especially with VOIP calls in Motorola’s forums. Motorola was quick to recognize the issue and is working to create a fix. Meanwhile, users are encouraged to go to this forum and offer details as to their call quality issues.

The other beef is a lack of high speed HSUPA support. And while the Atrix supports the 4G standard, we reported that AT&T seems to be the culprit here as Ma Bell is reported to have throttled uploads via HSUPA for the time being. In a written response, AT&T claims they are currently testing the standard for 4G use and that HSUPA will be disabled until the testing is complete and ready for release. So while Motorola is working hard to solve the voice quality issue, it may be that they have their hands tied until the Death Star decides 4G uploads are ready to be offered.

T-Mobile G2x by LG to have dual band T-Mo & AT&T Radios

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 10:56 AM PDT

Earlier in the week I’m sure you all heard that AT&T will be buying T-Mobile US. This was huge news that shook the mobile phone and Android community. T-Mobile has been a huge supporter and partner with Google through the entire ride. Today we bring you some very good news if it holds to be true. According to TmoNews the newly announced G2x by LG will have both T-Mobile 3G/4G as well as also having AT&T 3G/4G. A quad-band 4G, future proof for the T-Mobile merger maybe?

So far nothing regarding this has been confirmed. This was just something our friends at TmoNews stumbled on and had to share. For more information about the amazing LG G2x check out our Hands-On here. According to a few stories that have went around lately, T-Mobile phones will not work on AT&T after the merge has been completed, but will work for the next 12-18 months. I have also seen reports that AT&T will be adding to T-Mobile’s towers to make them dual-band so their own phones, and our T-Mobile phones will all work and roam on both teams towers. That would be nice.

For now there is tons of unknown information. We are still waiting for any new info we can find regarding this. Things will be getting interesting over the next 12 months as all of this unfolds. I’ve also heard reports of the congress telling the FCC to take a serious look at the merge to make sure it abides by all the antitrust, and competition policies. So that could cause some issues. Either way stick with AndroidCommunity as it all unfolds as we will be here the entire way.

LG Optimus 2x (aka T-Mo G2x) gets clockwork recovery already

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 10:32 AM PDT

Well well, it looks like the amazing Paul O’Brien from ModaCo has been busy with the new dual core device from LG. He has already done plenty on this phone but recently he has announced and shown pictures for a few exciting things. One being that Paul himself said the phone is a developer dream device. It is not locked down, and messed up like phones have been lately from both Motorola, and HTC. It is open, and free just like it should be and as Android was intended.

It looks like Paul has not only figured out the recovery key combo, but he’s fully rooted and flashed ClockwordMod to the G2x already. I smell CM7 coming in the first 2 weeks of the G2x launching as developers from CM7 have already said they will be supporting this device, specifically kmobs. Paul has also mentioned he has completed a Nandroid backup successfully and the device seems good to go, he called it a developer dream phone. What else do you all need to hear? That is enough for me, I think I want one.

Here is the tweet from O’Brien himself

Good news for all of us that have been following the G2x, looks like LG has not done anything to make us in the Android Community unhappy. Hopefully they will stay this way and leave devices open and easy to access like the G2x is. We can only hope.

AT&T working with Amazon to bring AppStore to handsets

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 10:06 AM PDT

In another sign that AT&T is shifting away from the iPhone and doubling down on the Android platform, Ma Bell is believed to be hard at work to develop support for the Amazon App Store. According to sources, Amazon and AT&T may be working to bring a direct app to future Android handsets which will allow for direct updating and purchases of Android apps through the Amazon App Store. Software upgrades to current handsets could also provide a purchase path on additional Android phones as well. Until that path is complete, AT&T has launched a site called AppStoreAccess.com, where users can select their phone and type in their email address to be notified when the link to the Amazon AppStore for Android is complete.

AT&T is working on allowing purchases and downloads from the Amazon Appstore for Android in the near future. Please select your AT&T Android smartphone from the list below and provide your email address so we can notify you after we have finalized our plans to bring the Amazon Appstore for Android to AT&T customers.

Critics of AT&T’s Android presence are quick to point out that third party apps aren’t currently allowed. As such, initially the Amazon AppStore for Android was of no use to AT&T Android customers. AT&T’s rapid response to assure customers they are working to create a path for third party apps through Amazon shows they are committed to the Android platform by providing users with a mainstream source to purchase and update their apps. The site only supports the HTC Aria, HTC Inspire 4G, Motorola Atrix 4G, and Samsung Captivate so far, but that is indeed a good sign.

The Amazon AppStore for Android was launched last Tuesday and offers a wide variety of Android Apps, including Rovio’s Angry Birds for Android exclusively. Every day, they will also be offering a free app or game. Most games and apps cost .99 and users can take advantage of Amazon’s one-click check out. Users will receive an email from AT&T once the update path is available.

A2SDGUI (User Interface for Darktremor App2SD)

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 09:52 AM PDT

For those that are fans of Darktremors A2SD scripts this will surely make you happy. For those that don’t know, Darktremor is an excellent developer from XDA that has built the scripts that are most widely used in the Android community to move apps to the sd card. Mainly for older devices, pre Android 2.2 devices, or for power users like me that have 200+ installed apps. Yay! This story is about another XDA dev by the name elgubbo, he has created a user interface for A2SD that makes everything much easier for you.

A2SD was extremely popular before Google released the App2SD feature that was integrated into Android, before that users had to manage what apps they needed and wanted, my G1 days were rough until I got the A2SD scripts on it, then I installed whatever I wanted and needed. Then things were much better after that. Now most phones come with over 1GB or more of app storage so this isn’t an issue. The same amount of apps that filled my Nexus One, now don’t come close on my MT4G. It has around 1GB free still.

For the hundreds of thousands of users that still need Darktremors A2SD I present you with a UI that makes everything extremely easy, gives instructions, and shows graphs on memory level. I would have loved to use this back when I had my Nexus One. Here is a list of a few of the amazing features this app has integrated.

Features:
- Show where apps are stored and Toggle from internal to EXT
- Show if Zipalign runs on boot and Toggle
- Show if swap is activated and Toggle
- Set swappiness
- Show where dalvik-cache is and move it, EXT
- Enable/Disable Dalvik JIT
- Set Dalvik Heapsize (for now only values between 12 and 32, i do not know if any values in this margin are good!)
- Set the internal Low Memory Killer to different levels (there also is an explanation included, great for older devices)
- German translation
- Now checks for remaining space before moving Dalvik-Cache anywhere (error prevention)
- System Info Screen which shows: free/used ram, free/used swap, free/used internal memory, free/used sd-ext, free/used space on /cache/ (more things to come …)
- a2sd beta is support
- (rudimentary) helpmenu with manual ability to check for updates.

Known Issues:
- SD-EXT sizes > 1gb are not properly shown in sysInfo tab (fix in next version)
- tell me please if you find any

Requirements:
- A working version of Darktremor A2SD script installed, version 2.7.5.2 and above supported.
- My GUI App

Download:
v0.8 Here

Looks pretty amazing to me, right. Now remember, always do a Nandroid Backup before changing large things like this. I also recommend saving all important app data with Titanium Backup before just to be safe. Don’t want to loose the save game data for that new Angry Birds Rio do you?

Carfax Android app allows access to Carfax account from anywhere

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 04:44 AM PDT

I am sure that everyone has seen or heard of Carfax at one point. The service allows you to get details on a used car so you know going into a purchase if the car has been in an accident or not. In the early days, the only way to get the reports was via fax, hence the name.

Today there are better and faster ways to get access to the vehicle reports with online access to accounts for dealers and with the new Android app. The Android app gives the user access to their Carfax account for dealers from anywhere. That means that a worker looking at a car for trade-in can scan the VIN of the car and get all the detail on their smartphone that they could get at the office from a computer.

The app allows the direct entering of a VIN by typing or a much easier method of scanning the VIN using the phone to get the results. The inquiries run on the Android app are also automatically put into the main account so they can be accessed at the office. The app is free on the Android Market now, but only works for account holders.

UK high street retailer Debenhams offers new Android app for shoppers

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 04:24 AM PDT

Shoppers in the UK that use an Android phone can now get a new app from the high street retailer Debenhams. The new app offers the shopper all sorts of features and tech to enrich the in-store shopping experience. Debenhams says that the Android app is the follow-up to its iPhone app with similar features released last year.

The Android app has a barcode scanner that is the first offered by a high street retailer. The bar code scanner is a virtual shopping assistant that uses the camera on the Android device to snap a photo of the barcode on an item. The app then uses the barcode to check pricing and reviews on the item.

Customers with the app can also get special deals in the store by scanning special QR codes that are in advertisements and in store windows. The app also supports a wish list and the ability to sort the products by color, size and lots more. The app can be downloaded right now at no charge.

HTC ThunderBolt BodyGuardz Carbon Fiberish Armor Application [CTIA 2011]

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 01:05 AM PDT

This year at CTIA 2011, SlashGear and Android Community were contacted by a group called BodyGuardz. This is a group that creates and skins for devices of many shapes and sizes, most notably for us the Motorola XOOM tablet and the HTC ThunderBolt. What BodyGuardz enticed us with was the prospect of getting 2 of their very first custom-cut-on-site HTC ThunderBolt wraps. These wraps were so fresh off the press that the paper backing had no brand and a freshly cut edge. It was like we were in the lab! We were so pumped up that we had to take a couple videos showing the application for all of you to see the loveliness.

The video you’re about to witness shows none other than this dude’s ugly mug. I’ll be bringing you through the process of applying a “decorative armor” which, despite it’s name, does provide protection just as much as it does provide what they’re calling “decoration.” What you’re going to see is me attaching the top batter cover bit, then the bottom bit below the kickstand, then the kickstand itself.

A couple things I want to be clear about: when i said there were bubbles near the top after the first try, I don’t feel I was clear enough in saying that the bubbles weren’t bubbles at all, they’d just been high places that I’d simply not pressed down with my thumb at that point. Each bit of skin went down without a hitch, and perfectly every time – save for the kickstand which I did have to take off and re-apply again because I stretched it the first time I applied, sticking it to one end and pulling the entire strip too far across the back of the device.

We’ll be reviewing this exact same skin very soon here on Android Community, then we’ll be getting in review units glore including one made specifically for the Motorola XOOM tablet that you KNOW I’ll be looking at VERY closely. Armors for life!

T-Mobile LG G2x Hands-On

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 09:34 PM PDT

Take a peek at a rather enticing Android 2.2 Froyo handset that’ll be available this spring (2011) from LG, carried by T-Mobile. This is the “T-Mobile G2x with Google by LG” – that’s the official title, as our main homie Brian Scollo from LG tells us. This is a Vanilla flavoring of Android 2.2 Froyo, which, as you know, means its just the basics, a great way to experience Android if I do say so myself, and what’s inside? No less than our good pal the NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual-Core Processor, here each processor clocked in at 1Ghz. Power woo!

To demonstrate some of the loveliness going on here in this G2x machine, Scollo shows off the game N.O.V.A., a massively impressive first-person shooter that, although it’s been out now for Android for some time, has received little to no love from Android sites, more than likely because it’s not available for purchase in the Android Market, it’s got to be purchase on Gameloft’s own online store.

The point Scollo makes with Gameloft’s shooter is that Tegra 2 makes this device as sweet at the XOOM or the ATRIX 4G in jamming around games like they were blades of grass and the phone were a boot. Then it’s got all the other basic standards for a high-end phone going for it like an 8-megapixel camera on the back, (LG’s highest megapixel camera on a phone at the point when it will be launching,) “if nothing else launches before that.” Is that a clever hint at another secret device?

When Scollo says “if nothing else launches before that,” I’m basically certain he meant it simply to mean that there would be nothing launching with a higher res camera in the meantime. We could probably take that sentence and make a mountain out of it, but we’ll skip on the wacky tinfoil hats for the moment.

We take a peek at some functions of the camera, speak about the internal memory being 8GB, see that the hardware is indeed running Android 2.2.2 Froyo, and that, surprise! This phone can run DIVX! The ability to play more formats than fewer, especially when you’re talking about what I’d call a nerdy format like DivX, that’s a good sign for everyone! Of course, Scollo does not that users will have to convert files into AVI to put them on the device, which is confusing, but also encouraging nonetheless. No matter how small or large the screen we’re working with, the ability to play bigtime movies is always a plus.

Upon asking if this device had a final build inside it, if we’re seeing what will be sold in the stores, we were told that no, this was not final, and that tweaks were continuing to be made as we spoke. One example is, perhaps, the fact that the phone wasn’t able to connect on T-Mobile’s 3G or 4G network (it’s final destination being 4G at release,) – OR, and more likely, it just wasn’t able to battle its way out of the Wifi invasion that was occurring in every room within 50 miles of the Orange County Convention Center. Regardless of the fact that the G2x’s software wasn’t fully cooked, it looked completely slick and ready to roll out.

We’re pumped up!

See our original unveiling post back [here] for a full spec sheet and all the info you’d love to know.

A Hearty Thanks to our Street Team, Business Contacts, and Close Friends [CTIA 2011]

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 09:31 PM PDT

Let me tell you, Android Community, and I mean that like you, all of you out there that came up to us during this convention over the past couple days to either give us a tip, ask us which phone we were using as a primary, or just to say hi: we love you! I shouldn’t really call you a street team at the moment since technically you’re not taking stickers of ours and pasting them on stop signs – but perhaps soon! We’ve had a great time meeting ALL of you here in Florida and hope to meet up with you again soon!

You know who you are, you’re the people who we met, exchanged cards with, traded hugs with, and even swapped shirts with (true story!) It’s such a unique situation we’re in here with only a few days out of the year to physically meet up with you who work with us every day from the other sides of the internet. It’s always a privilege to see you, and I and we would like as many opportunities as we can grab to say thanks for being such a fabulous group.

That said, those of you who considered speaking to us but were frightened by the trails of fire our feet were leaving as we jammed out across the floor, between keynotes, and to and from fancy parties, please, feel free to ride the wave! We love to meet new people who’re interested in Android every single day, and never EVER mind someone coming up to us just to say hi, we read you, let’s keep in touch!

Until next show, please, without a doubt, feel free to hang out in the discussion forums, (that’s if you aren’t already there, that perhaps leaving, what, 10 of you in the world,) and tell us how it’s going!

SO! Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity in kindness, and we can’t wait to meet each of you again!

T-Mobile LG G2X DivX Certified!

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 08:49 PM PDT

Welcome yourself to the G2X, or the “T-Mobile G2X with Google by LG” as they like to call it officially. It’s a medium weight phone thats much taller than it is wide, with a brilliant display, a Vanilla flavoring of its Android 2.2 version of the Google mobile os, and you’ll be able to play all your ever-loving high-res videos on it right out of the box in your very favorite format – it’s DivX certified – it says so right there in the info!

It was less than a year ago when users of Android were clamoring, or at least digging around in the guts of the system looking for the ability to play DivX files on their device. Why is it that devices don’t all come with a perfectly expansive list of fill formats it can handle? Why hasn’t every single Android phone since this beginning of this happy go lucky trip been able to work with AVI files and DivX? Well that’s a question for the ages as well. This phone will be launching this spring, 2011, so get to downloading your files again, or put those ol’ DivX dvd stacks in and re-rip em for lots of little screen viewing.

Good times in waiting for this sweet day!

Take a peek at our full T-Mobile LG G2X Hands-On and see what the whole awesome party is about, and check out that gallery for some sweet shots. Also NOTE that we originally had a different video in that post, but had to go back and get a new one once we were informed by a very helpful tipster by the name of “Rick the Androidinator” and yes, he did want to be called that.*

*Remind me to tell you all how helpful you’ve been through this particular show week specifically in coming up to us in person to provide tips on where and what we really ought to be seeing. We love you, Android Community, you’re the one’s that are making this place great!

Opera Mobile & Mini Browsers get updated for Android, Reviewed on Xoom

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 03:03 PM PDT

The makers of the popular Opera browser have been busy making their browser quick, stable, and silky smooth. Lately they have included some huge changes that are sure to make things interesting in the Android browser wars. Today Opera has updated both versions and are available in the Android Market. Huge improvements such as hardware acceleration make Opera Mobile extremely smooth. We have some hands-on with the Motorola Xoom below.

For those that don’t know, Opera offers two versions of it’s popular browser. Opera Mini and Opera Mobile, both have been updated today in the market. Opera Mini is more for devices on slow data networks, or those with limited data usage available. I used it on my G1. The Mini version compressed webpages on Opera’s servers and sends it to the user, saving about 10 times the data usage, as well as speeds up browsing load times substantially. For stronger and more powerful devices, or users on Wifi I’d highly recommend the Opera Mobile version as it is a full out browser.

Opera Mini was updated to version 6.0 and it brought things like Pinch to Zoom, improved panning and zooming, a optimized UI for tablets and more. Sadly mini does not have or use Adobe Flash. The Mobile version however does have flash. Opera Mobile has been updated to version 11 and it has all the updates the mini version got and more like support for Flash 10.2, tablet UI improvements, Pinch to Zoom is very smooth now, with hardware acceleration being a big update as well. I’ve loaded Opera Mobile up on my Motorola Xoom and took a few screenshots of how well it works. Showing tabbed browsing, settings, flash settings, tile view and more. Check them out after the video below.

Now it’s time for the few I’ve taken on my Xoom. I will mention it runs extremely smooth, the tabbed browsing is very nice and swaps to the page with a sleek animation. Overall it is a keeper so far.

The start screen is very simple and outlines a few options and features of Opera Mobile

Then it starts and goes to the tiles screen with all your bookmarks conveniently ready to touch and go.

Immediately I removed Facebook, and replaced them with the best sites ever, AndroidCommunity and SlashGear (you all should too). Can’t forget Google or the market though.

The tabbed browsing really impressed me on the Xoom, it was animated and extremely fast. When touching one tab it slides around and on top of the other page. Very neat and nicely done Opera.

Next we have the bookmarks, downloads, help and settings tab in the top left corner. Everything is super easy to access and simple. No one should be confused while using this browser. They have added some great features such as Opera Turbo witch will make even the Mobile version compress pages to speed things up when wifi signal is weak or are using a pay per data plan. This can be toggled on/off as well as other settings all in the settings menu.

here is just a picture to show you that not only is Flash and hardware acceleration present, but seems to work great and has options of it’s own. You can choose to have Flash 10.2 fully working and on every single site you open, you can choose the Click-to-Play feature (On Demand) where flash content will only load when you want it to, I use that setting myself. Last you can completely disable flash if you feel the need.

Lastly I have a small clip of the Motorola Xoom running Opera Mobile v11 for those that want to see it in live action.

In closing I am pretty impressed with the overall smooth and snappy performance. Everything ran very silky smooth, settings were simple and easy to find and change. All the settings and browser tags opened and closed with animations. Some of the larger issues I’ve had in the past with Opera were completely gone like a checkerboard screen when scrolling to fast or while zooming in and out. Now pinch to zoom is extremely smooth, comparable to the stock Android browser if not better, scrolling was extremely fast and stable, no stuttering or checkerboards here either. I’ll need to give it a little more time for a full judgment. I’ll be using this for my day to day browser for the next few days and I’ll see how it goes and report back. Go and get it in the market now and see for yourself. Feel free to comment below on what you think of Opera Mobile/Mini, Thanks for reading.

Kinect style interaction coming to Android

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 02:12 PM PDT

Remember last month when we reported that someone hacked the Microsoft Kinect to work on Android? Well there’s now a company that’s working to officially bring a Kinect style gesture based app to Android tablets and handsets. The company is XTR3D and they’re creating an app called iZi which will read the gestures for navigating a variety of apps including games play.

In many ways, it’ll be like a mobile version of Minority Report. Users will use gestures like hand waving to move from page to page and even use pinching gestures to zoom in or out. And according to the video below, it also looks like the software will be able to read a driving gesture for playing racing games. The gesture app won’t require any additional hardware and will likely use the front facing webcam to read the users gestures via recognition software.

Wow. Couple this with a 3D display, like the autostereoscopic qHD display in the HTC Evo 3D and you could actually get multiple layers and have a real Minority Report function. Wouldn’t that be trick? No word on when this app will make it’s way into the Market, but it’s currently in beta for Laptops. XTR3D is planning to make a mobile version available, perhaps by year’s end?

HTC Thunderbolt Download 30+ Skins for Sense UI 2.0

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 01:33 PM PDT

So everyone has started to get their new and awesome HTC Thunderbolts over the last week or so. I’m sure you all love it. For those like me that always want to tinker, or change how things look we have a little treat for you. HTC EVO 3D Ad released

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 01:16 PM PDT

HTC has released it’s first commercial ad for the HTC Evo 3D. The ad takes the phone through it’s video playback and record paces and features content bursting from the screen into the third dimension. It also mentions the wireless streaming to TV feature of the phone. The slogan … glasses off, 3D on … your mobile life in 3D.

HTC and Sprint announced the Evo 3D at CTIA yesterday in Orlando Florida. It’s killer feature is the ability to view 3D content without the need of those geek ridden 3D glasses. Using an autostereoscopic, 4.3-inch qHD display and powered by a dual core 1.25 Ghz Snapdragon processor, the Evo 3D not only allows users to view 3D content, but make it as well. It features twin 5MP rear facing cameras that can shoot 720p HD video at 30 frames per second in 3D.

The Evo 3D runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box with the latest HTC Sense 4.0 overlay. It also enjoys on board apps like Yahoo 3D for uploading 3D content, and Blockbuster 3D, which allows users to purchase and rent both 2D and 3D content, and games as well. Check out our Hands-On here. The HTC Evo 3D will be available through Sprint later this summer.

HTC Thunderbolt Easyroot with S-Off now Available

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 01:03 PM PDT

Earlier in the week we told you about a root method for the newly popular HTC Thunderbolt . The original root method was very long, and pretty difficult. Probably for advanced users only. I know I’ve seen many reports on twitter that people didn’t want to get into all that and were waiting for a 1-Click root, or easyroot. Well today I have that, here is Easyroot.

For those that do not want to go into the difficult rooting method posted in the beginning of this post. We have the easyroot ready for you. This is brought to us by the XDA member dbzfanatic, he says he doesn’t own the Thunderbolt but that it’s been successful on multiple test devices and with others that do have the phone. I’ll get right into it as I’m sure you all can’t wait to root and start fully enjoying your Thunderbolts. As always, we at AC or the members at XDA hold no responsibility if things go wrong. This could brick your device and do everything at your own risk.

DISCLAIMER: AndIRC is not affiliated with this program and by using it you agree that neither AndIRC nor myself is responsible for any damages caused by this program.

Instead of linking you all to the files here. I’ll just send you to the source as he has two files, one for adb, and one to do this without adb, as well as all the instructions and possible issues. Also this is for Windows PC’s only for now but I’m sure support for more will come very soon. Enjoy your newly rooted HTC Thunderbolt.

Motorola reducing Xoom orders and supply already? Moto says No

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 12:29 PM PDT

Earlier this week there was a few reports that the Motorola Xoom was doing ok with sales, but that Motorola was already starting to cut orders, and lower supply. There was also talk that they might be terminating production as soon as July 2011. This all stems from a story by Digitimes that ran yesterday. For more information on the original story we covered it at SlashGear.

Apparently Motorola will slowly cut supply and terminate in July and start preparing for the release of another tablet to take on and beat the iPad 2. This has since been denied by Motorola and they have reached out to our friends over at Phandroid and said they plan to manufacturer, and ship the Xoom well past the second quarter. So according to them the reports by Digitimes were inaccurate.

Obviously Motorola is already working on something else, as all companies probably have many devices in testing phases 365 days a year, but for now the Motorola Xoom is the main focus as it’s only been out a few weeks. They plan to sell plenty more once the Wifi-Only Xoom hits the streets.
